That is a great question. Initially, I had many reasons why I should not get baptized, but the simplest answer to this question is because Jesus did it as an example for us to follow. In Mark 16:16, Jesus said: “Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.” To be clear, this does not mean that if you have accepted Christ but are not baptized that you are not saved. Instead, baptism is an outward expression of your faith. For me, as I walked this out in my life, I got to a point where the only reason I was not getting baptized was pride and I realized that I could not let pride get in the way of my profession of faith. If you are on the fence about getting baptized–whether you feel unworthy, or, like me, felt prideful–let me tell you that this is such a beautiful opportunity to bury all those things in your life that are keeping you from growing closer to Jesus.

Tomorrow you will have an opportunity to have that cleansing in your life. Are there things that you want to bury? Do you want a new relationship? Then come out with no judgement. Be in a community of your brothers and sisters and be healed.

PS: The Men’s Fellowship is canceled due to the baptism. Please meet us out there.

May you have a blessed Friday and I hope to see you tomorrow!

Humbled to serve,

Jorge
