a roaring lion

1 Peter 5:8 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

Praying blessings over you and your loved ones in the name of Jesus.

I was led to start today’s devotional with those words. Know that He is with you.

A few weeks ago, I woke up tired and as I was getting ready to shave, I picked up what I thought was my shaving cream and opened the top. As I was getting ready to dispense the shaving cream, though, I realized it was my toothpaste and not my shaving cream. I immediately stopped and put it down. I realized the mistake I had made and had I continued, I knew the disastrous mess it would have made.

How many times in our lives have we realized what we are doing is wrong and instead of stopping and not continuing, we push through? We say things like: “It is not that bad,” “Everyone is doing it,” “I was angry,” ” No one cares!,” “I can’t be perfect!” When those words, those excuses come to you, know they do not come from God, but from the enemy. That is why I LOVE the verse above. It tells you what a fraud he is. The verse says he prowls around LIKE a roaring lion. Why Like? Because he is trying to be like Jesus and only Jesus is the true Lion! Make no mistake, that the enemy is looking to devour us and our loved ones, but he does it under the cover of lies.

This week I am praying that Jesus would open your eyes to all deception, all circumstances that are meant to harm you and not prosper you. May you have the strength to realize when you are in the midst of a mistake and to stop and not continue.

Humbled to serve,

Jorge
