A few nights ago, I saw an amazing full moon (picture attached). It was shining so bright that it appeared to make a path of light straight through the dark clouds surrounding it. I remember reading once that the moon doesn’t produce its own light. Instead, it reflects the light from the sun. This reminded me of the phrase God placed on my heart, which I use in my signature below: I am a small piece of a broken mirror reflecting something Great.
What an amazing image of who we are in Christ. By ourselves, we do not produce light. Instead, like the moon, we reflect His light, His greatness. Many times, I have people thank me for things I said or did, but I always remind them that it is God they are seeing, not me. I know my limitations. Greatness is not one of my attributes. It is through His strength–not ours–that we accomplish mighty things.
When you feel like you are unable to shine, allow Him to shine His light on you, so that you can reflect it to everyone you encounter. We cannot overcome true darkness on our own, but with His light which is in us, we can penetrate the darkest of places.
Praying that we wipe down the grime that has been glued to our mirrors by reading His word and asking for forgiveness, so that we can shine/reflect His greatness!
