Psalm 23:4-6 Even when I go through the darkest valley, I fear no danger, for you are with me; your rod and your staff—they comfort me.You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Only goodness and faithful love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord as long as I live.
Good evening family,
As I was praying this morning, asking God what He wanted me to share with all of you, I felt Him reminding me of the song, “Praise You in this Storm.” He also reminded me of a particularly stormy season in my life. Many years ago, I was involved in a very high profile Federal case. It was stressful for me because I had never been in a Federal trial before, and this case specifically involved a well connected person. During the trial, I would listen to this song and pray. At one point, when we had several other Federal agencies monitoring the trial, I was walked to the courtroom by some agents. One of them looked at me and said, “Don’t be nervous. You are doing God’s work.” At that moment, I was able to give God praise in that Storm.
I know this glimpse into my life pales in comparison to what many people have gone through this year. However, my hope is that as you are walking through your storm you would have the strength to praise Him in the Storm. I know that storms can be loud and overwhelming, but I hope you can hear His voice through it saying… “I’m with you.”
If you haven’t heard this song, or need a little reminder, here’s an excerpt:
“But as the thunder rolls
I barely hear Your whisper through the rain
“I’m with you”
And as Your mercy falls
I’ll raise my hands and praise the God who gives
And takes away”
As far as the trial, in the end we won the case. He is able.
I pray that as you leave 2023, you take a moment to leave behind that backpack full of all that’s weighed you down this year, and that as you walk into 2024, you do so with His joy, knowing that you have made it through many storms because of Him.
Have an abundantly blessed 2024!
