Luke 11:1 One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.”

Blessings family,

Monday night I had a stressful moment at work and it gripped me. As much as my mind could understand this stressor, the situation still chipped away at me. I prayed and used many of the tools I’ve learned as a chaplain and as a peer team leader to destress, but I could not break its grip. I went home that night and was able to have a good night’s rest. In the morning as I was driving home from dropping off my son at school, this stress fell upon me again. I prayed even harder and called upon Jesus to remove this anxiety. The stress continued and I ended up in the ER because of chest pains and other symptoms. That was a small roller coaster with ruling out a heart attack, then thinking I had a blood clot in my lungs, then no blood clot and going back to revisit my heart. At the end, all seemed to be fine and it pointed to stress.

I share this with all of you because I was unable to break what felt like an incredible oppression. But while I was in the hospital, I was receiving calls and text messages from friends who had no idea I was there and when they found out they began to pray. The prayers have continued into this morning and I feel His peace and strength through them.

Don’t ever assume that someone you know and may think is more connected to God than you is okay. We all fall short. I needed my brothers and sisters to come alongside me to lift me up and spiritually intercede for me. I know many of you didn’t know I was in the hospital and it’s okay. I know you would have prayed. It was just another reminder how blessed I am that in struggles, God always sends His human angels to help me.

PS: I was even more blessed this afternoon to see why I went through this spiritual battle. But that is another story for another day.

God bless you,

Jorge
