John 1:5 That light shines in the darkness, and yet the darkness did not overcome it.
Blessings family,
I truly pray that all of you are well. This past week, my family and I were blessed to be able to get away to the beach. The days were spectacular and for a few of those nights, there were also spectacular storms. One of the nights, the ocean looked like black paint, and the clouds and sky were just as dark. You could not see where the ocean ended and where the sky began. But every time lightning struck, the skies lit up. After countless attempts to capture it with my camera, I was finally able to snap the picture below.
This is one of my favorite photos. It shows that in the greatest moments of darkness, light will always overcome it.* Jesus is that light. No matter how dark things may look, His light shines brighter than any darkness we are experiencing. Jesus said: “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
The morning after I took this photo, the bible verse of the day was: “That light shines in the darkness, and yet the darkness did not overcome it.”
God ordained moments like this to show you–and me–that He is present. I do not know who needed this today, but know that He is with you through whatever you are walking through.
*My mom pointed out that if you zoom into the photo, you see two eyes, a nose and lips. If you look to the right of the photo, you can even see an arm with the palm of the hand facing toward heaven.
Humbled to serve,
Jorge
