I can’t believe that our last meeting of this year will be next week! I hope you can come out and join us as Det. Detective Christopher Mitchell is a 19 year Veteran with the Miami Beach Police Department. Detective Mitchell was born in Miami, FL and attended school at the University of Miami before joining the police force. Detective Mitchell is a proud father of two boys and three girls and married to a Miami Beach Police Sergeant. Detective Mitchell worked several years as a patrol officer before being assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division. Detective Mitchell now serves in the Training Unit as the Police Department Training Advisor.
Food and fellowship will start at 7 PM, with the message starting promptly at 7:30 PM.
In February of 2016, Detective Mitchell experienced a life changing event, after losing his 18 year son to a congenital heart disorder called Wolff-Parkinson White. Two years later, Detective Mitchell became a mentor with Big Brother Big Sister “Bigs In Blue” Program. Through Big Brothers Big Sisters, Detective Mitchell partnered with a young high school athlete, who was a strong believer in God but decided to take the wrong path in life, after experiencing a death of a family member who was killed by a police officer. Nine months later, this unlikely bond resulted in a positive outcome.
Detective Mitchell was fortunate to be the guest speaker at the NFL 100th Annual Meeting, where he shared his testimony to NFL team owners, coaches and staff. Detective Mitchell was also awarded the Miami Local Hero Award by the WAWA Foundation and the First Responder Service Member award by the Miami Marlins. Detective Mitchell look forward to sharing his story with the FCPO on how God turned a Tragedy into Triumph.
