Joshua 1:9 Haven’t I commanded you: be strong and courageous? Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
The other day, a good friend called me to share what had happened to him. He said the situation reminded him of something I would write about, and he was so right! As he approached his car to head to work, he found a lizard on his windshield. It was alive and had no desire to move. My friend didn’t want it to fly off as he drove to work, so he gently encouraged it to jump off the windshield. The lizard seemed upset because he was comfortable lying where he was. My friend said it reminded him of God moving us. Sometimes we are comfortable where we are, but God needs us to move toward something greater.
During the same conversation, my friend shared with me that God had placed it on his heart to lead a bible study. I told him to do it. He said he would pray about it and see what God wanted him to do. As we were talking, I realized that my friend was kind of like the lizard. He was comfortable where he was. Taking the step to lead a bible study would mean he would be taking a step in an uncomfortable direction. God had ordained this entire situation to encourage my friend, to remind him that he is not alone in this step of faith.
A short time after our conversation, he texted me to let me know that he and another good friend would be starting a study.
Has God placed something on your heart to do for Him? Like lead a small group, start a bible study, or simply share your faith in a place that is difficult for you? The above verse is a great reminder that He goes with you wherever you go. He will not send you to do His work without being with you.
Be strong and courageous! Our Father is with you wherever you go!
