Ephesians 6:2 Honor your father and mother, which is the first commandment with a promise, 3 so that it may go well with you and that you may have a long life in the land.
Great Morning everyone and Happy Mother’s Day to all of the moms!
Yesterday, I heard a brief message that spoke about the verse above, honoring your father and mother, and today, I was led to flesh this out a little bit, focusing on the mothers. The pastor who shared the message spoke about parents not being perfect and this resonated with me. I’m certainly not perfect, and although my mother is amazing, she has shared with me some of her failures too.
I share this because I have had countless conversations about being deeply wounded by fathers, but we rarely talk about the wounds mothers caused. But in writing this, I was reminded of so many I have spoken with over the years who have gone through this immense pain due to their mother; some are still going through it. I needed to share with you, to really remind you, that our parents are human and flawed just as much as we are. I do not know who this is for today, but it weighed on me to share.
My prayer and message is that if any of you are suffering with this pain that you would have the strength today to forgive her, whether she is here or not.
And to all of the moms on here, especially my mom and my wife, may you all have a sweet and blessed day in The Lord today.
Happy Mother’s Day!
Humbled to serve,
Jorge
