2 Peter 3:8 “Dear friends, don’t overlook this one fact: With the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day.”

In the chaos of the first week of school, my son forgot his math book at home. He begged us to drop it off for him as he didn’t want to start the year off on the wrong foot, and after some debate, I decided to take it to him. As I waited at the school for my son to pick up the book, I saw a woman come. A teacher approached her and said, “I am so sorry.” The woman began to cry. Moments later, a second teacher came and said the same thing, and the woman began to cry more intently. I could not hear what was going on, but I felt led to speak to her. Once I gave my son his book, I walked over to the woman and told her I was a police chaplain and I asked if I could pray for her. She looked at me, cried and said: “Yes.” I was advised that her husband had died last month of COVID and her daughter could not bring herself to come to school.

Knowing this, I prayed over the woman and asked her if I could connect her with one of our chaplains, which she agreed. In one of those God-ordained moments, it turns out her daughter goes to the same church where this chaplain works, and the teacher who was with us ended up knowing our chaplain as well. I told the woman, “Look how much God loves you that He sent me at this exact moment to see you. My son left his book, which doesn’t normally happen. I was supposed to be at work, but took the day off. The chaplain I want to connect you with works at your daughter’s church and the teacher went to school with her. God wants you to know He is with you. You are not alone.”

I am happy to say that this woman and her daughter went to church yesterday and they were loved on.

I wanted to share this with all of you because in the midst of all the chaos, all the darkness, God still moves. This was all ordained by God and each of us are called and equipped to do the same thing. We just need to take that step of obedience, whether or not we see the floor before us. He will not lead you down a path to let you fail when you are doing His work.

Praying each and everyone of you can take that step of faith and help bring His light into our world.

God bless you,

Jorge
