Isaiah 40:28-31 “Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
A few days ago, I was watching a study called The Luggage of Life by Max Lucado. In this study, a woman shared a story where her son, who was a successful doctor, was murdered. To make matters worse, one of the people implicated in the murder began to stalk them. She and her husband had to move so they moved to a place they had always wanted to move to and purchased their dream home. Ten months later, her husband died…
This story was so hard to hear, and it made me think about all of the tragedies I have witnessed in my life as a police officer. After watching this study, I remember praying and saying, “God, there is so much pain–so, so much. So much to deal with.” I felt God answering, telling me: “Who I Am and What I Am is greater than everything that is happening in this world. I Am The Alpha and The Omega, I Am The First and The Last, I Am The Beginning and The End.”
If you combine every hardship that has ever happened in this lifetime, it does not begin to scratch the surface of who He is and what He has prepared for you. The apostles fled when Jesus was killed. Once they saw Him again they willingly suffered and most were killed because they knew what was prepared for them was SO much greater than what they were dealing with on this side of heaven.
As a note: The woman above got to a point in her life that she could no longer bear the pain and surrendered it all to God. Truly surrendered it. She smiled and said: “He took it from me.”
Be blessed this week and filled with His peace and hope.
Humbled to serve,
Jorge
