Job 5:12 “He frustrates the schemes of the crafty so that they achieve no success.”
Good morning family,
My family and I are on vacation. We’ve had this amazing vacation planned for a while and we were so excited. When we arrived at the Airbnb, however, it was terrible. It smelled like cigarettes, it was dirty, and even the refrigerator door would not close completely, which meant any groceries we would get would spoil. My wife got a hold of the property manager and although she was very apologetic, there was nothing she could do for us as she couldn’t get in touch with the cleaners. She gave us the option to cancel, but all the area hotels were sold out. I was so bothered. I thought about driving back to Miami…and I strongly dislike driving! That is how frustrated I had become.
As I felt the frustration turning into anger, I began to pray. I know some of you may think that is my natural response to everything, but it’s not. I often fail to go to prayer first, as was the case this time. I had allowed my flesh to take over before the lightbulb went off that I had to pray about this.
That’s when things started to change. After a bit, the property manager called us back and she was able to move us to another, better room for one night. Then, as we prayed for dinner, I thanked God that although everything seemed to be a mess at that point, I knew He was with us. Late that night we found a place across the state in St. Petersburg, which we had never been to before. So now we are staying in a newly built hotel for less money than the Airbnb apartment and the property manager there said she would give us a full refund, which does not happen often in Airbnbs.
I know we all have our moments, as I did, and it is okay to have them. The important thing is to recognize it and seek God in those moments of frustration, especially before it turns into anger. He will always do what is best for us.
Humbled to serve,
Jorge
