Merriam-Webster defines the meaning of FOURTH OF JULY as “independence day.” Today we are able to celebrate our day of independence from the rule of Great Britain. Our forefathers fought and we were finally given our freedom. In a somewhat similar way, Jesus gave us a “day of independence.” He freed us from the captivity of sin–as long as we are willing to accept this freedom. This freedom lies upon us and I know it can be a difficult fight. But it is absolutely worth it.
Praying that today we can all take in the gift of our freedom and take in the eternal gift given to us by Jesus.
Humbled to serve,
Jorge
