2 Corinthians 6:18: “And I will be a father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to me, says the Lord Almighty.
To the men of the FCPO, Happy Father’s Day! I know those words span a great depth of varied feelings. For some, today is an incredibly joyous day and for others, a day of pain. I’ve been praying as to what to share with all of you and through an opinion piece titled America’s crisis is a lack of fathers, I received a prompting form The Lord.
The article stated staggering percentages related to how devastating fatherless homes can be. Children having behavioral disorders, drug and alcohol abuse, etc. The list continued. But the end of the article shared what God placed on my heart: “Lastly, to the God-fearing fathers throughout our nation, we ask that you look beyond your own homes and make intentional efforts to coach, mentor, and support the fatherless children in your own communities.”
I admit that sometimes, it is a challenge for my son and I to communicate to the degree I would love, but I keep making daily efforts to get there. For those of you who are fathers but do not have a relationship with your children, I challenge you to take steps to heal that relationship. If you are already on this path, blessings to you on your journey. And to those who do not have children, may Our Father lead you to the fatherless so that you may guide their steps to the neverending hope we find in Christ Jesus.
Praying for incredible miracles this Father’s Day!
Humbled to serve,
Jorge
