Proverbs 22:3 The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and pay the penalty.
Good morning family,
A few weeks ago, as I was driving into work, the flow of traffic came to an abrupt stop and I had to brake quickly. Everything was okay and I continued my drive. However, as I was crossing the MacArthur Bridge, I saw a seagull out of the corner of my eye. It was flying across the bridge and it was going to hit my windshield. For the second time that day, I had to brake forcefully. The seagull still tapped the side of my windshield, but it was able to fly away.
What would that same drive have looked like if I was solely focused on my rear view mirror? I would have never seen the dangers that were before me or the one that was coming at me. Oftentimes, we spend too much time on the things of our past (our rear view mirror), missing the things in our present and future (front windshield). It is good to look in the rear mirror to remind us of what we have overcome, but we should not stay focused on what we see there. That is what the enemy wants of us–to stay focused on the past and not see the dangers ahead of us.
I Googled evasive driving to define it, and when I did, this was the first thing that came up: “7 Evasive Driving Maneuvers to Escape Your Enemy.” How appropriate is that? We have to continuously scan ahead of us to see what is coming towards us; this way we can actively avoid the things that the enemy has placed in our path to throw us off our Godly course.
Praying each of you has a clear and wide windshield to see any dangers coming towards you so that you may enjoy what is ahead of you.
Humbled to serve,
Jorge
