1 Corinthians 13: If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.

Last week, as I was driving into work, I heard a priority call go out over the radio. I was close by, so I responded. As I arrived with another unit, we were given a new location and responded there. Ultimately, a man that fit the description of the wanted subject was detained. I met with the victim and his girlfriend and they quickly shared with me what had happened. I told them how sorry I was that they had to experience this situation. Shortly after, the victim and his girlfriend positively identified the detained person as the wanted subject. Once this happened, the victim’s girlfriend began to shake uncontrollably. My heart broke for her. I placed my hand on her shoulder and told her it was okay to be nervous, that she will have ups and downs, and that this is normal. I told her to give herself grace when she feels this way. She stopped shaking, looked at me and smiled.

I’ve been off the road for a while now, but I can’t remember if at any time in my career I told someone I was sorry for a situation they had gone through, other than the loss of a loved one. For me, this was another blessing to witness how much Jesus has changed my heart and another great reminder that there are many opportunities to show love to others. Be alert to when these might appear in your life.

Praying that God would open a door for you to show someone love this week.

Humbled to serve,

Jorge
