Psalm 32:8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.
Blessings family,
I want to start with a scenario: Imagine that a month ago, when I didn’t have a headache, I took some Advil; then, when I developed a headache weeks later, I couldn’t understand why the Advil I took the month prior wasn’t alleviating the pain now… It sounds kind of silly doesn’t it? If I would follow the directions on the back of the bottle, I would know it doesn’t work the way I took the medicine in the scenario.
But doesn’t our relationship with God look like this sometimes?
He gives us clear directions, but we choose to not spend time in His word, to not pray, to not fellowship–and then we can’t understand why He doesn’t respond to our prayers. We can’t understand why we continue to struggle so much. We expect the “Advil” (our time with God) from a month ago or a year ago to work today without taking in more of Him. It’s not that He is absent, it’s that we are not opening the door to hear Him. For me, I have found that the more I can dedicate spending time in His word, in prayer and in fellowship, the more He reveals things to me. This doesn’t mean we will not have struggles, because Jesus says otherwise, but I am able to find comfort in knowing that I have followed His directions to deal with what is before me.
Praying this week that you would dig into His word, spend some time with Him and get the relief you are in desperate need of.
Humbled to serve,
Jorge
