Zephaniah 3:17 “The Lord your God is among you, a warrior who saves. He will rejoice over you with gladness. He will be quiet in his love. He will delight in you with singing.”
A few weeks ago my son’s marching band went to their team’s football game to perform. When the game was about to start, you could feel the tension between the teams. The band began to play with a moving performance, as the cheerleaders and color guard cheered with endless energy. They were all giving it their best because they wanted to let their team know they were there to support them.
A short time into the game, the first touchdown was made!! But it was for the opposing team. This did not dissuade the band from playing at an even higher level to try to encourage their team. But as the game continued the opposing team kept scoring, over and over and over again. We were getting decimated… But the band continued to play as if their team was the one scoring time and time again.
It was at this point that I saw a beautiful picture of God and us… Life hands us a lot of blows sometimes. And as each blow comes, we look at the scoreboard (our life) and see how we are losing. But God is in the stands, singing over us, cheering for us, screaming at us, saying: DON’T GIVE UP! DON’T… GIVE… UP!! I’m here! I love you!! Look at Me and not at what is before you. If you keep looking there instead of at Me, you will lose hope.
I know for some of you right now these are just words and if they are, I pray that you would have the strength right now to stop looking at the scoreboard, stop looking at your teammates and look to the stands and see and hear God screaming, trying to tell you: Don’t give up! Don’t Give Up! I love you! Please don’t give up, because I will not give up on you.
