For years now, my department has done a toy giveaway for families in need, but due to the pandemic, the gifting of toys this year was cancelled. One officer, however, took it upon herself to make sure it wasn’t cancelled. She worked hard to locate the needy families. Then, she went with a small group to purchase the toys with the money the department/PAL had allocated for them. She was able to get almost 60 officers who donated their time to bring the gifts to these children’s homes. It was beautiful to see how many gave of their time–time they will never get back but that was used to bless others.
It was a great reminder for me about how much we can do for others when we give this precious gift called TIME.
