Psalm 147:3 He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds.
Blessings family,
Yesterday, my wife and I were able to speak to my son more in-depth about some of the things that occurred on 9/11. We shared what we remembered about the chaos and the initial fear of the unknown. If you speak to anyone who was around during this time, they will likely remember exactly where they were and what they were doing.
Over the years, there are many things that have stayed with me, but one that impacted me tremendously was seeing how our country came together. It did not matter what your background was; we were all Americans. People respected each other and looked out for each other the way we are called to look out for each other as brothers and sisters in Christ and as an example of Christ. Of course, there were some who were hurt and persecuted because of their image; they looked Middle-Eastern and were attacked in the aftermath of 9/11. This was not of Christ. By and large, though, we were united.
Jesus said, “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.” The unity that God wants of us is the unity we need to have.
I have not studied why these men did what they did, but I have witnessed what Jesus can do in a person’s life. I pray that we can come together once more, not only as Americans, but as His children. Greater is love.
Please pray for all of the families that were affected by this tragedy. May He heal their broken hearts and bandage their wounds.
Humbled to serve,
Jorge
