Good morning family,
God placed this on my heart again to share. We always say Happy Thanksgiving, a single unit. Both together. But have you ever considered Thanks———Giving?
Thanks- 1 Thessalonians 5:18: in every situation [no matter what the circumstances] be thankful and continually give thanks to God; for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.
Today is one of the days in the year when we tend to reflect and look at all of the blessings or burdens in our lives. I pray today that you would be overwhelmed with the many blessings you have. And I pray that we as a great group of believers would come together in prayer to lift all of those up who are struggling today.
But Thanksgiving isn’t only about the thanks. It’s also about the giving.
Giving- 2 Corinthians 9:7:Let each one give [thoughtfully and with purpose] just as he has decided in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver [and delights in the one whose heart is in his gift].
I love this message, particularly the part about giving with a joyful heart. Giving is not always monetary. Earnestly praying for others, volunteering your time, shining for Christ—those are all ways of giving. I pray today that you would have an opportunity to give with a joyful heart whether you’re standing in joy today or suffering. Giving brings joy to the heart and this may lift you if you are not in a thankful place today.
