Therefore I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or disputing.

1 Timothy 2:8

Great morning family,

During my walk with Christ, He often reminds me of where I once was. He doesn’t do this so I stay in the past, but rather through that reminder and reflection, He enables me to help those who are starting their walk with Him. Recently, I was reminded of a particular time.

For many years, I attended a church that rarely had anyone in the congregation raise their hands in worship. When they did, I thought they were just weird. Then I began attending a new church where many people raised their hands during worship, and I would try my best to stay clear of them. I thought they were fanatics, or that it was too much.

One day, this act was explained to me in a way that clicked. They said, “As an officer, when you confront a subject and tell them to raise their hands, what you are telling them is that you need them to surrender….” So, when those at church were raising their hands while singing to God, they were surrendering to Him. They were standing there saying: “Lord, I love you and I am surrendering to you.”

As I have continued my walk, I now find myself being the person who I always thought was a weirdo. I just added another level to it. When I am singing to Him and I am raising my hands in worship, tears begin to roll down my face uncontrollably. In those moments, it’s just Him and me.

I now smile when I see people raising their hands in worship. Without words, they are all saying: “We love you Lord and we are surrendering to you.” And I stand with them echoing the same.

Have a blessed week everyone!

Blessed by serving,

Jorge

Proverbs 4:20-22 My son, pay attention to my words; listen closely to my sayings. Don’t lose sight of them; keep them within your heart. For they are life to those who find them, and health to one’s whole body.
