Luke 24:1-12 Jesus Has Risen
On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ ” Then they remembered his words.
Can I share an additional personal perspective to this? Why are you looking in an empty tomb for your past sins? Jesus took all of your sins to the grave. They no longer have authority over your life. You have been forgiven.
I share this because I have been guilty of looking in the past and asking for forgiveness again for things that I’ve done, even though Jesus has already forgiven me. I’ve looked in the tomb…….but Jesus filled the emptiness of my past with His unfathomable Grace.
Today, let us rejoice in what Jesus Christ has done for us. He has forgiven us for all of our failures, overcome death, and made our tombs of sins empty. Don’t keep looking in there. If you have asked Him for forgiveness, your tomb of sin is empty.
Romans 10:9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
