Galatians 5:25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.
Good afternoon family,
This past weekend, my son auditioned for a statewide musical competition. When we arrived at the school, we prayed before we got out of the car, as we usually do. We found the cafeteria where students from various schools were warming up before their individual performances. While my son warmed up, a couple of his classmates arrived, and I could tell they were nervous and stressed. I felt prompted to ask them if they wanted me to pray for them, and they said yes. So I grabbed my son, and the two boys and prayed over them. I reminded them that the talent they have is from God and that He loves them very much no matter what the outcome may be. I also prayed that His peace would cover them. They were all so grateful. Shortly after that, another one of my son’s classmates arrived. And you can guess it…. The same thing. Extremely anxious. I asked him if I could pray for him. He thought about it for a moment, and then said: “Yes please.”
I told my wife as we were leaving that I had not expected to pray for anyone other than my son. She looked at me and said: “You should always expect that.” She is so right. Sometimes we need to be reminded of things we already know. We need to seek every opportunity to pray for people. We are living in hard and dark times, and the only thing that will change things is loving others like Jesus.
Praying we will all have an opportunity to love on someone this week.
And, please pray for everyone in the hurricane’s path.
Humbled to serve,
Jorge
