Isaiah 42:7 in order to open blind eyes, to bring out prisoners from the dungeon, and those sitting in darkness from the prison house.

Good morning family,

I want to first thank you for all the responses in regards to the prayer requests for Puerto Rico. Please keep praying. And please pray for the Dominican Republic as Hurricane Fiona has made landfall.

A few weeks ago, I met a man who shared that he had been in prison. He didn’t go into why he was sent to prison, but he shared how Jesus changed his life. Not only did his new relationship with Jesus redirect his life, but he now tells everyone about the joy he has in this relationship. A couple of weeks after that, I was with a dear friend and he was sharing with another friend some of his testimony. I’ve heard it a few times, but this time, I realized something powerful. He shared how he had lived in the things of this world even at the cost of his family. He in essence had become imprisoned–not physically, but spiritually. He was unable to break out of the bonds of this prison sentence even with the pain he was causing his family. It was only until he surrendered everything to Jesus that he was able to break free. Recently, I met a motor officer who congratulated me on my retirement. He told me he wished he could retire, but said “I have too many toys.” That is a prison also. All of these men were in prison, just different types of prisons.

What a powerful analogy that should cause each of us to evaluate our lives to see what we are a prisoner of. What is causing us to be there? Pride? Addiction? The inability to wait for God’s timing? Fear? Busyness? The circumstances of this world?

Praying that whatever prison you may be in, Jesus would help you open the door. And if you have walked out if it, may that door be ripped off its hinges to never be replaced.

May each of you have a blessed week in Christ.

Humbled to serve,

Jorge
