Good morning family,
As many of you know, I was required to work on the road for several days to help out during Spring Break. It had been years since being on the road, but it was so good to spend time with officers and even greater to pray over them before they went out to serve. My last patrol day was Thursday and I had been praying for days to share something that would stay with the officers regarding prayer. God kept giving me an image of a green scribble crayon on a piece of paper and a story with my son, but I could not remember what that was. Taking matters into my own hands, I took a piece of paper and used a green crayon to scribble all over it. I kept looking at it for a clear message, but it didn’t come.
Then, God reminded me of a box I had under my son’s bed that had some of his artwork. I went to his room and pulled out the box. It was filled with cards and papers. When I grabbed the first card, read the front, and turned it around, I saw picture 1 below. I was amazed!!! THIS IS IT!!
On Thursday, I went to roll call and shared my heartfelt thank you for all that the officers were doing and continued to do. I then showed them the card. I shared with them that I had purchased this card for my son to give my wife for her birthday about 10 years ago. I showed the scribbled card and shared that on the corner of the card it said: Breakfast @ Starbucks on Saturday (Picture 2). In my son’s scribbled mess, he was trying to tell my wife that he wanted to take her to breakfast.
I shared that sometimes our prayers look like that. They are a scribbled mess. They go in different directions and we don’t know what to pray for or how. But the same way my son told me what it meant, God knows what you need before you ask Him. And if your card is empty, or you have no words to pray, He still knows your needs.
Praying that whenever we have moments of chaotic prayer that we would know that God knows.
