Isaiah 46:4 Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.
Many years ago, when I wanted to become a police officer, I was required to take a swim test. This test included swimming a few laps that seemed to be 10 miles long and after that, while still in the pool, swimming to the edge and treading water. I felt like I could not go on anymore, but the desire to become a police officer pushed me to get through it.
The last couple of weeks have kind of felt like this, being met with challenges that left me feeling like I could not go on anymore. One day I had a very disheartening situation happen that left me initially upset and eventually sad. This was then followed the next day with another disheartening situation. All this was combined with a young family member in the hospital and then having to take my mom to the ER, where she, too, was admitted.
The feeling of being overwhelmed had taken root. I had to push myself to remember all the times in my life that God had carried me through challenging times and I knew I had no choice but to surrender these situations to God because they were beyond me. I could not push my way through them.
While the disheartening situations do not seem to have any resolution, the great news is both my family member and my mother have now been released from the hospital.
I am praying for you.
May God give you the strength to “tread” through whatever is going on in your life.
