Psalm 96:1 Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth. 2 Sing to the Lord, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day. 3 Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples.
Last week as I was leaving work, I was excited because the next morning we were going to Daytona Beach where my wife had a conference. That excitement was extinguished when it took me one and half hours to get home because of the Art Basel traffic. This ” extinguishing” continued throughout the weekend with countless issues at the hotel that kept us up at night and the realization, as we were driving home, that one of the valets had stolen our cell phone cable.
It seemed like it was one punch after another, but I should have known better…. I should know that when the punches come, God is up to something great. I met with a deputy up there who I’d first met during the funeral of Officer Chirino. He wants to start a Peer Team and I agreed to meet with him to give him some pointers. During the conversation, I actively listened and prayed that an opportunity to speak about Jesus would present itself, and at first, no door opened. Then He opened an enormous door and we had an amazing conversation about Jesus.
Later that same day my wife and I had chair massages. The door opened again when the lady giving me a massage spoke about hope and love and that led to Jesus. As we spoke about Jesus, the lady who was giving my wife the massage was able to hear a powerful message.
There will be times in our lives that it seems everything is going wrong. I stand guilty of allowing circumstances to once again dictate my mood. I am slowly learning. If that is you today, actively seek opportunities that God may be opening for you to speak about Him. If I would have been actively seeking for opportunities, my circumstances would not have had so much influence over me.
Have a blessed week.
