Psalm 42:5 Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.

Last week, I was able to speak to an old friend. He had passed by the station and the first thing he told me was: “You need to pray for everyone here!” We went on to talk about how he felt the oppression there, all the doom and gloom. I understood where he was coming from, but I was able to share with him a different perspective. In the midst of that oppression, there was hope if we knew how to look.

As some of you know, I wear many hats at work. One of them is that I am in charge of the station. Well, our entrance gate broke and I had a crew there to do a temporary fix. As I was standing there, observing them work on the gate, many officers drove out and most lowered their windows to say hello to me. As they left, I was able to tell each of them: God bless you. One of the officers drove up and shared with me that he wanted to be more involved with Our Father and would like to attend our FCPO meetings. I told him he was always welcome. After the temporary repair was done, I walked back into the station where another officer approached me because he wanted to speak to me about God. This officer has been fairly outspoken about how he does not believe in God, yet here he was sharing with me that he wants to know more…..

For me, at least, that day was wonderful, filled with pockets of joy and hope. My friend’s perspective was one of doom and gloom, but God gave me a different perspective that day and I am so grateful for it.

So, what’s your perspective? Are you actively seeking all the things that are wrong in your life or in your path? Or are you looking for those amazing moments God wants us to be a part of?

Praying each of you would be filled with His peace this week and would see things through His eyes, His perspective.

God bless you,

Jorge
