Luke 6:45: For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.
“How much is too much?” is a profound question that can be applied to so many aspects of our lives. A friend who is on fire for Jesus shared with me the other day he shares The Good News every opportunity he has. Recently, he was speaking to some friends about Jesus, and later that night, his wife told him that she felt he spoke too much about Jesus.
But: How much is too much Jesus? I know people who only talk about money or sports, fishing, working, cars, boats–the list goes on and on. They can tell you intricate details about these things, which are great, but they’re not Jesus. And, none of these topics get criticized like Jesus does, even though with Him things are eternal.
Jesus said you would be insulted and persecuted because of Him, but He also said to love one another, and telling friends about Jesus is a great act of love, especially when you know that they may mock you or reject you. Remember, it is not our job to change a person’s heart (we can’t), but we can plant a seed. God can make that seed grow in hearts that we never imagined possible. Beyond that, we should continue to do our best to love as He loves us.
My prayer is that we would pay attention to what we speak about the most this week.
Humbled to serve,
Jorge
