Matthew 22:36-39: “36 ‘Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” 37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”
Good morning family,
Last week, our friend Sharon Abrams interviewed me about the FCPO. One of the questions she asked pertained to a song she and her daughter wrote called “I Thought I Was Loving You.” She asked if any part of the song impacted me and our ministry. I told her the song itself was so impactful, but the part that hit me most was this line:
Did you know, did you hear, did you feel their pain?
This was before everything unfolded over the last week. Those of you who know us know that we as a ministry have done a lot to try to mend this pain between us police officers and the community. And our guide has been and will always be Jesus. It has to be. His command above, “Love your neighbor as yourself,” speaks to what He needs us to do.
Everything that has been going on pains me. We have been doing a lot of praying and asking God for wisdom to help navigate through this pain as well as to begin healing the root of this pain.
I humbly ask that all of you come together in prayer and take up what Jesus said: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” I am reminded that when Jesus was being crucified, He said: “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” He didn’t rebuke them in anger or in fear, but He loved them.
May we have His love, peace and strength to come together as His children.
Humbled to serve,
Jorge
