John 8:34 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin.

Great morning family,

This past weekend I had to change my water heater. After a conversation at work about water heaters, I decided to look at mine a bit closer. It was an old system, over 20 years old. On the surface, it appeared to be in good condition, but when I looked inspected the bottom, I saw it was rusted. I dismissed it initially because our washing machine water line burst many years ago and the water heater was sitting, I’m sure, in a pool of water. But as I looked more carefully, I noticed that small specs of rust were appearing higher on the water heater and this would not have been caused by the leak. You can see it in the pictures attached. When the plumber removed the old water heater, he told me it already had a small leak in the back that was starting to damage the wall.

Let me turn a corner. How many times in our lives does everything look okay, but we have a small spec of sin that keeps coming up or is already showing? I dismissed the rust on the bottom, but didn’t notice the small specs that were growing and could have bursted at any moment causing so much damage in my home—kind of like the damage sin can cause in our homes if we don’t pay attention or catch it in time. Remember: Every time I write to you, I am speaking to myself as well. Do not dismiss those things we like to call “small sins.” They can build up over time and burst at any moment, causing damage that could have been prevented.

Miss you everyone!! Sending you all a huge hug in Christ Jesus.

Humbled to serve,

Jorge
