I woke up early Sunday morning which is a rare thing for me, but I was excited as I have felt that I haven’t been spending enough quiet time with God and reading His Word (life’s instructions). I came downstairs while my family slept, and I made coffee as I often do. As it brewed, I noticed that the coffee pot was not filling and that the coffee placemat under it was wet…. I stopped the coffee maker and found that the coffee had spilled everywhere and I didn’t know why. I refilled the coffee pot and carefully observed what was happening, but again, the coffee began to pour out from under the machine. After a few times of this process, I realized that I was using a new washable filter, but had not placed the coffee filter holder. This holds the water as it brews and then allows the coffee to drip into the pot…..
This entire time I was praying, saying: Lord, why are you doing this? I wanted to spend some quiet time with you before my family wakes up. Well… He answered. He said remember that without my instructions (reading My Word), your life will always spill over. The coffee filter holder (God) was needed to hold the water (everything going on in our life) and His Word will guide you to take proper steps in life.
Praying that if your life is spilling over right now, that you would lean on Him through prayer and in His word to establish your steps.
